Clothing, colours, dyes, fabrics, stitches, patterns – Wondering where or when it all started? On 24 April 2013, the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed. 1,138 people died and another 2,500 were injured, making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history. That’s when Fashion Revolution was born.
A global event which pushes for the more sustainable fashion industry, the Fashion Revolution unites the industry and ignites a revolution to radically change the way our clothes are sourced, produced and purchased. We sure have come a long way with changing trends to changing mindsets!
Who made my clothes?
Collaborating across the whole supply chain, this beautiful movement brings everyone together to transform the fashion industry. Launched in 2014 calling for greater transparency in the fashion world, it urges us to ask the most important question of all – Who made my clothes?
Today, both people and the environment suffer as a result of the way fashion is made, sourced and consumed. In order to change this, three key issues or M’s of change need to be addressed –
Model – the business of fashion
Material – people and planet
Mindset – shifting the way we think about fashion
We can achieve a fairer, safer, cleaner, more transparent fashion industry when we focus on bringing about this change.
What you can do
You can play a big part in accelerating the Indian fashion world towards a sustainable future. As the go-to-place for sustainable innovation in the fashion industry, the Fashion Revolution opens up avenues for start-ups to interact on the pressing subject.
Stay tuned, we’re on the digital journey to capture the best of it for you!
